The Borough’s Building Code Official and Zoning Officer are responsible for the review of applications, issuance of permits, and inspection of properties for compliance with the Borough’s Zoning Ordinance and adopted building codes.
Permits may be submitted in person at the Borough office (301 Beaver Road, Edgeworth PA 15143), via email to office@edgeworthborough.org, or by mail to the same address as the Borough office.
All building and zoning inspections will be conducted during the hours of 8:00am and 2:00pm. All inspections will be by appointment only. The appointment for inspections must be made at least 48 hours prior to the desired inspection date and time.

Building Permit Requirements
The following are required to submit with any building permit:
- Scaled plot plan based on a property or boundary survey
- Completed Building Permit Application
- Current and proposed lot coverage for principal and accessory structures (total square footage)
- Current and proposed impervious surface percentage (all lot coverage plus all other hard surfaces, excluding grass and gravel)
- Yard setbacks (how far from your property line is your proposed project)
- Building elevations showing height of structure
- Certificate of Worker’s Compensation Insurance (Edgeworth Borough named as policy holder) OR signed Affidavit if you are completing the work independently
- Signed acknowledgement of responsibility for inspections
- Signed acknowledgement of Borough Ordinance Number 505 regarding weight limits on Borough roads
- Two copies of building plans
The following are required to submit with any building permit if applicable:
- Stormwater management plan (only for new construction or if you are disturbing more than 2,178 square feet of earth)
- Erosion control and sedimentation plan
- Grading plan
- Structural design plans for retaining walls

Building and Zoning Permit Application
Required for any kind of building and/or zoning project. Depending on your project, all sections of the application may not apply.
Required for any fence installation or replacement. For more information regarding fence regulations, click here.
Required for projects that only involve plumbing or for projects where plumbing is being added or modified on an existing building permit.
Street Opening Permit Application
Required to open or otherwise excavate any portion of a Borough road, sidewalk, and/or curb.
Required to place a dumpster or storage container on property. Dumpsters and storage containers are NOT permitted to be placed on Borough roads. Please review the Storage of Containers section of the Vehicle Operation and Storage chapter of the Borough Code before applying.
Required to erect a sign in commercial and residential zoning districts. Please review the Signs section of the Zoning chapter of the Borough Code before applying.
