FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER
Qualified applicants are invited to apply for the position of full-time police officer with the Borough of Edgeworth. An application and details of the selection process may be obtained in person at the Edgeworth Borough Building, 301 Beaver Road, Edgeworth PA 15143 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, or downloaded from our website, www.edgeworthborough.org. Completed applications must be submitted in person by November 28th, 2022 at 3 pm, along with a $25.00 application fee. Photo ID required when submitting applications.
Minimum Requirements include: Act 120 Certification, PA driver’s license, US Citizen, physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer and meet all other requirements set forth in the rules of the Civil Service Commission. Minimum education level of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution required, or five years of full-time experience will be considered in lieu of an Associate’s Degree.
The physical agility and written test will take place on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at 9 a.m. at the Allegheny County Police Academy. A complete copy of the Civil Service hiring policy is available for inspection during regular business hours at the Borough Building.
FULL TIME PUBLIC WORKS LABORER – EDGEWORTH BOROUGH
The Borough of Edgeworth, Allegheny County, is accepting applications for a Full Time Public Works Employee. Edgeworth is a primarily residential community that prides itself on a clean, well maintained appearance and our resident oriented public works services. The successful applicant should be highly motivated and must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required plus at least 2 years of experience in the field of public works, construction or related field. A valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B CDL driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. The nature of this work requires physical effort and extended periods of manual labor. Applicant must have experience using a variety of tools including hand tools, chainsaws and landscape equipment. Mechanic experience is preferred. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity. The successful applicant will be required to submit to an independent functional capacity evaluation, pre-employment drug screening and background/credit checks. Employees in this position are subject to random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug/alcohol screenings as well.
Applicant should have experience driving a medium duty truck with a trailer as well as operating larger equipment including: brush chippers, backhoe, large tractors and mowers, and snow plow operations. Successful applicants will be required to pass a basic skills test and driving test prior to an offer of employment. Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in addition to extended shift/on-call shifts during snow removal operations.
